The LGITO has accumulated experience in the design and assisted delivery of industry based, targeted local government training. We are at the forefront of qualifications development, and support in the field of integrated learning in on-job, non-classroom learning environments.
LGITO adopts a partnership approach in working with a wide range of organisations, in the development of programmes. This takes the form of consultation with expert groups, current local government employees and managers. The result is the development of relevant, outcome-focussed programmes, which are approved by the NZQA and help the learner in gaining a valuable qualification.
Our partners include other Industry Training Organisations, education providers, education consultants and local government employees. Alliances, partnerships and commercial arrangements are entered into to meet specific academic or business requirements, and to enhance learning opportunities within the wider Local Government sector.
Working collaboratively with both employers and learners provides an effective mechanism to support work-place learning. Our job is to work with you to identify skill gaps and needs within your council or local authority. Our approach is to develop learning pathways which address both your workforce needs and enable you to achieve a competitive edge and improve your productivity.
We believe that an investment in training is an investment in your people and the fulcrum for the development of a sustainable community. Our response to work place learning is learner-focussed and industry based; allowing for the highest degree of flexibility to ensure that work-study balance is maintained throughout the learning process.
Our solution is flexible and integrated; your staff can learn what they want, when they want, how they want with our programmes with minimal disruption to work. Learners benefit from qualifications which are portable and continuously enhanced to reflect present day needs, thereby ensuring relevance.
LGITO is keen to work with you to meet the professional training needs of your council in the relevant areas where we can add value. We believe that our ‘qualifications matter’ as it enhances local government productivity by improving the skill base, encouraging learner engagement and staff retention.
